Located near the Olympic National Forest and PNW beaches, this Level 3 Trauma facility requires a tech who is an expert in aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation. You will play a critical role in the "scrub" capacity, ensuring that the sterile field is maintained and that surgeons have the necessary tools to perform procedures efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSterile Field Management: Prepare and maintain a sterile environment; handle instruments, supplies, and equipment according to AORN standards for asepsis.Surgical Scrub: Scrub-in for a variety of cases; anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments swiftly and accurately.Room Preparation: Assist in the setup and breakdown of the OR suite, ensuring all equipment is clean, sanitary, and strumentation Expert: Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of specialized surgical tools and diagnostic equipment used across various specialties.Support Duties: Assist the PACU and Day Surgery areas as needed; may include non-nursing administrative or clerical tasks to support department flow.Physical Demands: Must be able to lift/pull up to 50 lbs (stretcher to bed) and push a 50 lb stretcher for 300 feet.Requirements & QualificationsCertification: Current certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) is required.Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience is required (Hospital surgical background preferred).Licensure: Must hold a current, active Washington (WA) State Surgical Technologist License.Certifications: Current AHA BLS required.Skills: Expert knowledge of sterile techniques, accurate judgment under stress, and the ability to work with a diverse group of physicians.Unit & Facility DetailsLocation: Aberdeen, WA.Trauma Level: Level 3.Bed Size: 50–149 beds.EMR: Meditech.Environment: A community-focused hospital serving the rugged and beautiful coastal region of Washington.Clinical Spotlight: The Guardian of the Sterile FieldAs a CST in a Level 3 Trauma center, you are the final checkpoint for patient safety regarding surgical site infections.
