Senior Project Accountant We are currently seeking a Senior Project Accountant for a well-respected high-end residential construction company. In this role, you will take ownership of budget monitoring and billing cycles, ensuring all project financials remain compliant, accurate, and within contractual scope. Responsibilities: Execute monthly reconciliations between project and general ledgers Enforce precise cost coding to maintain strict alignment with project budgets and Work Breakdown Structures. Perform variance analysis on committed vs. actual costs, proactively identifying and resolving budget discrepancies. Direct the assembly of audit-ready draw packages, verifying the accuracy of subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and supporting documentation. Strengthen internal controls by optimizing invoice workflows, maintaining segregation of duties, and setting high documentation standards. Create and maintain essential financial tools, such as change order logs and vendor tracking schedules. Work with various teams to document financial workflows and ensure consistent audit readiness. Process Review & Improvement: Identify and resolve gaps in financial and admin workflows to maximize efficiency. Support and implement process improvements such as the integration of software enhancements and better cross-functional team collaboration. Drive organizational excellence by establishing and enforcing rigorous standards for financial documentation and regulatory compliance. Collaboration & Problem Solving: Drive project success by collaborating closely with PMs and service teams to provide mission-critical support. Solve complex problems with a proactive mindset, staying ahead of potential issues with creative and composed decision-making. Promote consistent, open, and transparent communication across the entire organization. Compliance & Reporting: Maintain and monitor compliance for subcontractors (COIs, licenses, waivers) Monitor and support contract types, including cost-plus and lump-sum structures Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of construction accounting experience (residential/luxury projects preferred or commercial interiors) Proficient in budget tracking, job costing, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting Skilled in Excel and experience with construction accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Procore, etc. Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
