Job Description

JOB GOAL: Assist the Transportation Supervisor in maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the school district's transportation services. DESCRIPTION: The Transportation Specialist role involves a wide range of duties including planning and routing, addressing parent and community concerns, and adherence to federal, state, and local requirements. The Transportation Specialist plays a critical role in providing reliable transportation that supports the educational mission of the school district. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop and maintain current bus routes, schedules, and student transportation eligibility using TransVersa routing software. • Communicate updates to building staff and transportation contractors. • Maintain accurate and organized records related to routes, ridership, personnel, district-owned vehicle maintenance, safety inspections and incidents. • Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding the District's student transportation system. • Respond to inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide clear and timely information about bus schedules, routes, and policies. • Work collaboratively with staff, families, and contractors to ensure the transportation needs of all students are met throughout the year. • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with families, staff, contractors, and other stakeholders. • Coordinate the bidding process for all extra transportation requests, including Field Studies and Athletics. • Assists in communicating with and visiting District Crossing Guards. • Process transportation-related transactions, contract payments, maintain student rosters, and compile transportation data for state report submissions. • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with District policies and procedures. • Support the public information and business office departments as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma required; advanced training or education preferred • Three (3) to five (5) years of business experience • Proven experience in detailed scheduling and record-keeping • Strong background in customer service and communication • Multi-Lingual preferred, but not required • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-union position, 12 months Monday-Friday, Full-Time 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM $55,000.00
