Job Description The Survey Crew Chief will be responsible for conducting surveys for various projects in Southwest and West Michigan. These projects range from private to municipal sectors, covering commercial building, education, multi-family, and industrial building sites. The role involves conducting Topographic, Boundary, Construction Layout, and ALTA surveys. The Survey Crew Chief will handle construction staking and operate survey equipment such as Trimble and GPS. The position requires work both in the field and at the office located in Kalamazoo. Responsibilities + Review and adhere to project scope, ensuring all project information and files are well organized. + Determine appropriate surveying techniques for each project. + Gather survey data to map areas, measuring angles, distances, and elevations. + Coordinate, perform, and supervise field work for a variety of standard survey types. + Analyze plans, plats, and legal documents to effectively plan and schedule work. + Draft and manage reports, descriptions, and documentation for all surveys performed. + Create reports for construction staking. + Ensure survey projects meet standards and that assigned tasks are completed timely. + Maintain accurate record keeping, time tracking, and job charges. + Oversee the maintenance of surveying equipment.
