Position Type: Special Education/Process CoordinatorDate Posted: 3/23/2026Location: District WideDate Available: 08/11/2026Closing Date: UNTIL FILLEDTitle: Process CoordinatorReports To: Special Education DirectorEmployment Terms: Employment terms covering compensation, benefits, and working conditions are specified by the Board of Education's policies, procedures, and agreements.Salary is dependent on experienceSchool term contract with additional days added as neededFLSA: ExemptPosition Overview: The Process Coordinator coordinates and oversees the special education process from referral through evaluation and eligibility determination to ensure accurate identification of students with disabilities and the delivery of initial and continued services, in compliance with Missouri DESE standards, indicators, and IDEA requirements.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field Master's degree in Special Education is preferredValid Missouri certification in a field related to special education servicesExcellent oral and written communication skills Skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management Experience in special education and writing evaluation reportsKnowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and the roles and responsibilities of being an LEAKnowledge of the special education process and the ability to synthesize evaluation data to identify educational needs and program recommendationsDemonstrate skills in computer word processing, spreadsheets, and databasesStrong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team settingEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Ensure district compliance with all federal and state special education mandates, including IDEA requirements, timelines, and procedural safeguards.Participate as a member of multidisciplinary teams to determine educational disabilities, eligibility, and appropriate special education services.Coordinate and oversee the Review of Existing Data (RED) process, ensuring thoroughness, accuracy, and adherence to the Missouri Standards and Indicators.Collaborates with district staff to select assessments that are data-driven and responsive to identified student needs.Obtain parent consent and medical releases to exchange information with physicians and outside providers as needed through the evaluation process.Analyze assessment data and prepare clear, descriptive evaluation reports for parents/guardians and school personnel.Arrange and facilitate meetings with staff and families to review evaluation results and determine diagnostic and program recommendations.Review and determine acceptance of transfer special education evaluations, complete required documentation, and initiate evaluations as neededTrack reevaluation timelines to ensure compliance with IDEA and state regulations for students identified with educational disabilitiesAssist in guiding IEP meeting discussions to ensure collaborative decision-making regarding goals, services, accommodations, and modifications.Act as a liaison between families, educators, administrators, and outside agencies to support student needs as part of the evaluation process.Maintain, secure, and update all required special education forms, records, and documentation for assigned buildings, ensuring confidentiality as a part of the evaluation process.Coordinates and facilitates evaluation team meetings to determine eligibility for initial and reevaluations in alignment with IDEA and Missouri DESE requirements.Provide guidance, consultation, and professional development to staff regarding special education procedures, legal requirements, and best practices.Support the development, review, and implementation of district-wide special education policies and procedures.Stay current on changes in special education law, regulations, and best practices, and apply updates to district procedures.Participate in the evaluation of special education programs and services and provide feedback for continuous improvement.Demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, teamwork, and sound judgment while working with students, staff, families, and administrators.Utilize technology systems and software effectively to manage documentation, data, and reporting requirements.Manage multiple responsibilities under pressure while meeting required deadlines independently.Schedule Behavior Manifest meetings, attend and take meeting notes, and copy wording written by the special education director onto the Behavior Manifestation forms following the meeting. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Superintendent, or designee.Physical Requirements/Environmental Factors:Ability to work in a climate-controlled building, as well as in inclement weather. Ability to stand, walk, and move around for long periods of time.Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids, a computer screen and printed matter, and to distinguish colors. Sufficient hearing to understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone. Manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer using both hands. Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation, on the telephone, and when addressing groups.
