HCA Healthcare has committed up to $300 million in programs to support our incredible team members over the course of three years.Job Summary and QualificationsAs a HIM Clerk you will before the organization of the file area, retrieving and filing of paper patient records within the HIM Department, retrieving and reconciling medical records from ancillary departments and nursing units, copying medical records, and processing of loose reports. In this role:You will also be responsible for training physicians on Portal/Care, reviewing and obtaining documentation for unbilled accounts.You will be responsible for processing accounts assigned to facility HPF work queues.You will be responsible for scanning and indexing late documentation received in the HIM department.You will retrieve discharged medical records from various nursing units and ancillary departments.You will assist in reconciling retrieved medical records against patient discharge listings to ensure receipt of all records within twenty-four (24) hours of discharge/visit.You will scan and index loose reports/documents that are identified as critical to coding.You will pull 60 facility paper medical records per hour as requested by customer(s).You will file and/or re-file120 facility paper medical records per hour as requiredWhat qualifications you will need:High school or GED.Knowledge of specialty equipment and tools: Copier, Microfiche reader, fax machine.One year medical office or hospital experience preferredPrevious experience in the handling of patient health information and/or medical records is strongly preferred.1 year experience in an office environment preferredBenefitsAlaska Regional Hospital, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
