RSI Logistics, a subsidiary of TrinityRail, is hiring a Career Transloading Operator for our Elizabeth, NJ location. A Transloading Operator is responsible for transferring bulk materials-such as liquids, gases, grains, or other commodities-from one mode of transportation to another. This role is common in industries like oil and gas, agriculture, rail and trucking logistics, and shipping terminals. What you'll do: * Operate equipment to load and unload materials between railcars, trucks, containers, or storage tanks. * Monitor and control the flow of materials during transloading to ensure safety and efficiency. * Inspect equipment and connections for leaks, wear, or damage. * Follow safety protocols and environmental regulations during all operations. * Maintain accurate records of materials handled, quantities, and transfer times. * Effectively communicate with, drivers, and other team members to coordinate logistics. * Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of transloading equipment and work areas. * Assist with basic loading/unloading tasks under supervision, initially assisting, but in time conducting loads on their own * Learn safety protocols and equipment operation. * Perform manual labor such as connecting hoses, cleaning, and staging materials. * Independently operate transloading equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, forklifts). * Monitor material transfers and ensure compliance with safety standards. * Troubleshoot minor equipment issues. * Ability/willingness to cross train in other forms of transloading. * Pre and post inspection of equipment and necessary documentation. * Performs light maintenance repairs to equipment and railcars. * Ability to work 6:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Friday, as well as Saturday * Other duties as assigned What you'll need: * High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require technical training or certifications). * Experience with forklifts, pumps, hoses, valves, and other industrial equipment. * Strong understanding of safety procedures, especially in hazardous material handling. * Good communication and teamwork skills. * Detailed oriented. * Able to read and comprehend training manuals. * Basic computer or tablet skills for logging data and reports. * 3-5 years of experience in transloading or industrial operations. * Knowledge of hazardous materials handling (if applicable). * Ability to read gauges, follow SOPs, and maintain logs. * Operation of pumps, valves, forklifts, and hoses * Reading gauges and flow meters * Basic troubleshooting of equipment * Familiarity with hazardous materials handling (if applicable) * Attention to detail * Time management * Clear communication with team * Certifications (often required or preferred): * Often outdoors (including rain, cold, snow, heat at rail yards, ports, or industrial facilities. * May involve shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays. * Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). * Forklift certification * HAZMAT training * OSHA safety training
