Logistics CoordinatorApril 2026Supervisor's Title: Plant ManagerReports to: Plant ManagerDepartment: AdministratorFLSA Status: ExemptWork Schedule: Monday through Friday, some weekend work requiredJob SummaryThe Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the movement of raw materials and finished dairy products within and outside the facility. This role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant transportation while maintaining product integrity, particularly for temperature-sensitive cheese and whey products.EssentialFunctionsCoordinate inbound and outbound shipments of milk, ingredients, packaging, and finished goods (cheese, whey powder, liquid whey, etc.)Schedule and manage transportation carriers, including refrigerated (reefer) trucks and bulk tankersOptimize shipping routes to minimize costs and transit timesTrack shipments and proactively resolve delays or issuesCollaborate with production and warehouse teams to ensure accurate inventory levelsMonitor storage conditions, especially temperature-controlled environmentsSupport FIFO/FEFO (First In/First Out / First Expired, First Out) practices for perishable productsEnsure compliance with FDA, USDA, and food safety regulationsMaintain accurate logistic records in ERP systemsCommunicate with customers regarding shipment schedules, delays, and delivery confirmationsBuild relationships with carriersCoordinate with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of raw materialsEnsure proper handling of dairy products to maintain quality and prevent spoilageReport and document any temperature excursions or product damageSupport audits and traceability requirementsPromotes and adheres to all policies and procedures relating to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's),food safety, and regulatory compliance.Comply with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Administration, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).Comply with all company food safety policies and procedures (including Good Manufacturing Practices).Responsible for providing food safety and quality feedback to the appropriate manager.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, Food Science, or related field preferred.2-5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain experience, preferably in food or dairy manufacturing.Strong knowledge of cheesemaking chemistry, dairy microbiology, and milk standardization principles.Experience with refrigerated logistics and perishable goods preferredFamiliarity with ERP systemsKnowledge of transportation regulations and food safety standardsAbility to work cross-functionally with production, quality, and sales teamsProficiency in interpreting analytical results (moisture, pH, salt, protein) and applying them to process adjustments.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Punctual and regular attendance is required.English skills mut be proficient to understand, read, write, and speak.Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
