This role is dedicated to connecting all school buildings, the central office, and various city departments through the reliable and secure distribution of mail, sensitive documentation, supplies and instructional materials. By managing efficient daily courier routes, the Specialist ensures that the entire district remains operationally integrated and that vital information flows seamlessly between all administrative and educational sites. Educational Requirement: A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Professional Experience: Previous experience in courier services, mailroom operations, or logistical coordination preferred. Logistical Operations & Distribution Execute the daily pick-up and delivery of mail, packages, and instructional materials across all school worksites, municipal offices, and post offices. Manage the secure transport and distribution of District printing (graphics, banners, and forms), as well as sensitive testing and evaluation materials. Facilitate the handling of specialized mail services, including Federal Express, presort, overseas, and foreign mail. Efficiently and safely load/unload delivery vehicles, ensuring all items are secured for transport and obtaining necessary signatures for documentation and chain-of-custody requirements. II. Vehicle Fleet Maintenance & Compliance Operate District vehicles in strict adherence to prescribed safety standards and local traffic laws. Monitor fuel levels and maintain accurate logs of vehicle servicing to ensure the fleet remains in peak operational condition. Prepare and submit detailed reports regarding vehicle mileage, preventive maintenance schedules, and any incidents involving accidents or damages. III. District Connectivity & Support Serve as a reliable operational link between all school buildings, the central office, and district departments to ensure seamless communication. PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Stationary Tasks: Often remains in a seated position for considerable periods while driving delivery routes. Periodic stationary tasks include administrative logging and reporting at a workstation. Sensory Requirements: Must possess the visual acuity required for safe daytime and nighttime driving, reading fine print on delivery labels, and navigating digital GPS tools. Must be able to hear vehicle signals and maintain high situational awareness in active school loading zones. Communication: Must communicate effectively and clearly with district personnel, school staff, and the public in person, via email, and on the telephone or video conference. Manual Dexterity & Technology: Frequent use of hands to grip, handle, or feel packages and mail. Must be able to operate lift gates, hand trucks, and carts. Requires the physical ability to push/pull heavy mail carts and load/unload bulky items. General Physical Strength: Expected to regularly lift and carry packages and mail bins weighing up to 50 lbs and move heavier items using appropriate assistive equipment (dollies/carts) between the vehicle and school sites. Working Environment: Works primarily outdoors and in a vehicle, with frequent exposure to various weather conditions (heat, rain, snow). Must be able to transition between quiet office environments and active, high-noise school loading areas or warehouse settings. Interaction & Focus: Must interact routinely with diverse stakeholders, meet strict delivery deadlines, and maintain focus on complex routing tasks amid frequent interruptions or traffic changes.
