Responsibilities Safety Policy Development: Create and implement comprehensive safety protocols, including accident prevention measures and driver handbooks.Regulatory Compliance: Maintain 100% compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations, including managing Driver Qualification (DQ) files and Hours of Service (HOS) logs.Driver Training & Coaching: Conduct initial orientations and ongoing safety meetings. Use telematics data to coach drivers on behaviors like speeding or harsh braking.Incident Management: Lead investigations for all vehicle accidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Safety Audits: Perform regular terminal, facility, and field audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety programs.Maintenance Oversight: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure all vehicles undergo required inspections (e.g., CVIPs) and preventative maintenance.Key Skills & Qualifications Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA standards is essential.Technical Proficiency: Experience with Telematics (e.g., Geotab, Samsara), Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), and Fleet Management Software (FMS).Experience: Typically requires 3-5+ years in transportation safety or logistics management.Education: A bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Logistics, or a related field is often preferred.Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Director of Safety (CDS) are highly beneficial.Leadership: Strong communication skills to influence safety culture across all levels of the organization.
