#079-CRT-04-26 Intervention Specialist Sunnyslope Elementary 0.53 FTE, Continuing Contract Beginning the 2026-2027 School Year * Internal Applicants Only Description: The Intervention Specialist is a pivotal leadership role dedicated to overseeing research-based teaching strategies in Structured Literacy and foundational Mathematics. This position coordinates the school's intervention systems to ensure continuous academic growth for all students. Key Responsibilities: Staff Training & Professional Development * Facilitate professional learning for both certificated and classified staff regarding the Science of Reading, evidence-based math strategies, and diagnostic assessments. * Mentor staff as a recognized leader to enhance their pedagogical skills and awareness of district initiatives. * Lead Professional Learning Community (PLC) teams to identify student needs, set learning goals, and facilitate data reviews. * Serve as a primary resource and consultant to staff members regarding students performing below grade level. Curriculum Development & Instructional Oversight * Create, maintain, and revise the literacy and numeracy components of the school's academic intervention framework in collaboration with the administrative team. * Develop tools to track and monitor student progress relative to standards using an evidence-based skill continuum. * Oversee research-based teaching strategies to ensure high-quality instruction in Structured Literacy and mathematics. * Coordinate with Title/LAP/Migrant/Bilingual staff to ensure inclusionary programs that follow state and federal regulations. Paraprofessional Management * Plan for, coordinate, and oversee paraprofessional staff. * Train and develop paraprofessionals to ensure the effective delivery of direct services to students. * Develop and maintain comprehensive schedules for paraprofessionals to maximize student support. Assessment & Intervention * Facilitate student grouping based on priority standards and prerequisite skills, such as phonological awareness or numeracy. * Administer specific math assessments and provide diagnoses for students below grade level to inform classroom instruction. * Provide specialized instruction and interventions utilizing assessment-driven, research-based strategies. * Maintain accurate management records of student progress in compliance with Qualifications: * Valid Washington state certification with appropriate endorsement(s). * ESL/ELL endorsements preferred. * Deep knowledge of the Science of Reading, Structured Literacy, and elementary math. * Experience with summative, universal screener, progress monitoring, and diagnostic assessments. * Proven ability to lead teams in collaboration around student growth data and systematic interventions. * Ability to schedule and train classified staff * Ability to train staff both individually and in a group setting Training & Preferences: * LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training preferred. * GLAD trained. * Knowledge of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Support).
