The Nevada Public Works Division is hiring for a Deputy Administrator, Building Official in Las Vegas or Carson City. The position shall have experience in building codes, construction, blueprints, analytical skills (problem-solving, judgment), communication (reports, public interaction), and strong ethics, supported by certifications like ICC and practical trade experience.Building official minimum qualifications will require a bachelor's degree, significant experience (5-10+ years) in construction/inspection/architecture/engineering, and ICC certifications (International Code Council). The Building Official must maintain all relevant licenses and certifications for the position for the entire duration of employment in the position. Plus, strong leadership and communication skills for overseeing code compliance. The Building Official manages staff (like inspectors), handles applications, and responds to inquiries. Shall preform on-site verifying work, resolving issues with contractors, document findings, and balance public service with strict code adherence.
