Emphasis on Microbiology experienceSPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. Rotates in the different laboratory sections, as assigned, performing routine laboratory testing; these rotations include a regular weekend rotation and taking call.a. Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Serology, and/or Microbiology to obtain data used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.b. Perform complete, appropriate and accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory and specific environment.c. Perform Quality Control as needed and document in the LIS with appropriate QC modifiers.d. Check that barcode labels do not obscure patient name on specimens and that identities on both labels match.e. Accurately identify specimen results as they are obtained from instruments and enter, with comments, into the LIS.f. Assist with the cleanliness of the Clinical Laboratory.2. Registers patients and performs capillary puncture, venipuncture, and arterial puncture.3. Performs all duties of Laboratory Clerk/Assistant.4. Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies for which the employee is responsible.5. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.6. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.7. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures as well as labor agreements.8. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization's values.9. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.10. Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:1. Associates Arts degree in chemical, physical, or biological science with one (1) year of clinical internship.2. Nationally recognized certification as MLT (ASCP or equivalent) or qualified under CLIA Standard Testing personnel qualifications such as completion of U. S. military medical laboratory procedures training course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.3. Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification.4. Three (3) to five (5) years of hospital experience preferred.5. Current CPR certification - Healthcare Provider (HCP) PETENCIES:1.
