Job Title:Special Ed-Dyslexia Specialist (0537) Reports to: Student Services/Campus Principal Dept./Campus: Student Services/Campus Assigned Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Pay Grade: A15 Duty Days: 187 Date Revised: 02/2024 PIC Code: Primary Purpose: Provide dyslexia remediation to students who have dyslexia and/or related disorders. Dyslexia Intervention Specialists support campuses in the assessment and identification of dyslexia and serve as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team as part of these evaluations and in attending ARD/504 meetings. . Dyslexia Intervention Specialists provide progress monitoring data, as well as resources and classroom support. They may be asked to serve more than one campus. Qualifications: * Valid Texas Teacher Certificate * Master's Degree- preferred * Certified Academic Language Therapist or Practitioner - Preferred * Special Education Supplemental Certification-required * 3 years minimum classroom teaching experience in ELA and/or Special Education preferred. * A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of curriculum, instructional technology, and in the Science of Teaching Reading. * Completion of Texas Dyslexia Academies within one year of hire. * Demonstrated competency in classroom reading instruction. * Ability to collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds including, but not limited to, parents, teachers, school administrators, diagnosticians, and counselors. * Strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills * Ability to provide campus level staff development. * Ability to maintain confidentiality. * Ability to speak English clearly with appropriate grammar and enunciation. * Willingness to present at professional development sessions and parent trainings Major Responsibilities and Duties: * Support the special academic needs of the dyslexic student. * Coordinate students' learning needs through classroom teachers. * Work with students individually and/or in small groups. * Provide differentiated instruction to meet individual learning needs. * Work as part of the campus team. * Coordinate and implement the Dyslexia Program with fidelity during the required amount of time. * Follow Case Manager responsibilities * Communicate with teachers, support personnel and administrators. * Be accountable to the Student Services department and Campus Administrator. * Attend required training including professional learning communities and district training. * Administer dyslexia testing when appropriate; interpret data, attend 504/ARD meetings. * Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Student Services Department and/or Campus Administrator. * Track student progress and provide reports as requested (PEIMS and e-STAR). * Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Duties: N/A Equipment Used: Various technology, personal computer, copier, iPad, MTA/dyslexia materials. Working Conditions: Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Position requires repetitive hand motions. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
