This role is centered in the pharmacy unit of a hospital, supporting a Pharmacist in delivering pharmaceutical services in accordance with established protocols. The position entails working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with holiday pay provided based on hours worked on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. Location: Kalaheo, HI Type: Contract Schedule: 7 days a week coverage 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM shifts 40 hours per week allocation Key Responsibilities: Assist the pharmacist in preparing physician orders, including pulling labels and filling medications such as unit-dosed oral meds, reconstituted, topical, or IV solutions. Prepare intravenous, epidural, or intrathecal solutions using sterile technique in compliance with sterile compounding standards. Refer completed drug orders to the pharmacist for final verification before dispensing. Follow all safety and infection control policies, reporting any unsafe conditions. Manage telephone triage according to departmental guidelines. Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and secure environment for staff and patients. Pre-pack medications as unit doses and remove outdated stock and automated dispensing machine items. Stock pharmacy shelves, automated dispensing machines, and maintain emergency medication supplies. Deliver medications to appropriate patient care areas and respond to pharmacist's special requests. Complete competency assessments and maintain patient and employee confidentiality. Employ proper PPE when handling hazardous materials. Additional duties may include managing temperature logs, inventory control, narcotic pulls, receiving and stocking medications under Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) guidelines, and assisting nursing staff with Pyxis issues. Qualifications & Experience: Valid certification as a registered pharmacy technician issued by the Hawaii Board of Pharmacy. Minimum of two years' pharmacy experience in community or hospital settings, assisting pharmacists according to procedures.
