Early Head Start Teacher JobID: 400 Position Type: Early Childhood/Teacher (3 years old and under) Date Posted: 1/14/2026 Location: Family Service Center Additional Information: Show/Hide QUALIFICATIONS: * Associates degree in early childhood, or closely related field, or CDA * 1 year experience (preferred) as a teacher in an early childhood program serving infants and toddlers (below 3 years of age) in a developmentally appropriate environment, preferably in a human services setting * Knowledge of community resources and skills to link families with appropriate resources * Training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable and supportive relationships with very young children, their families and pregnant women * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Sensitive and mature and able to relate well to children and adults * Ability to lift infants and toddlers and participate in floor activities * Willing to work flexible hours * Willing to work in center-based or home-based programs * Preference given to Early Head Start or Head Start parent who meets all the other qualifications Overview of Responsibilities: * Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge, understanding and adherence to the philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, procedures and standards of the Family Service Center, Head Start, Louisiana Child Care Licensing and other appropriate entities, including professional knowledge and skills to carry out activities. * Plan and implement the program for center-based and/or home-based programs in accordance with the Head Start Standards. * Organize each day's activities to provide children with a variety of experiences and opportunities. * Conduct developmental screenings and ongoing assessments to determine motor, language, social, cognitive, sensory and emotional skills. * Visit each child's home (in center-based program) at least twice a year to become familiar with the home environment. * Complete timely, neat, complete and accurate documentation of screenings, assessments, individualized plans, attendance, daily health checklist, feedings, daily activity logs for parents, home visits, inventories and other documentation as may be necessary for providing quality services. * Assist in developing Family Partnership Agreements.
