What You'll Do: We are seeking a Public Health Vision Consultant to lead and support statewide vision screening and conservation programs, improving access to care and outcomes for children and communities across Ohio. Duties include: * Lead and manage statewide vision screening and conservation programs to ensure access to quality services for children. * Oversee and administer vision screenings in compliance with the state guidelines and standards. * Analyze screening data, prepare reports, and identify opportunities to improve program outcomes, referrals and follow-up care. * Develop and implement program strategies, policies, and accountability measures to enhance service delivery. * Design and deliver training for healthcare professionals, school staff, and community partners. * Provide technical assistance and consultation to local agencies, schools and partner organizations. * Develop educational materials and promote best practices in vision health. * Collaborate with public and private partners to expand access to services and support statewide initiatives. * Participate in committees and contribute to public health planning and policy development. * Conduct research, prepare presentations, and respond to public inquiries. * Support program evaluations, grant-related activities, and special projects. UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires travel. Position Qualifications: Completion of undergraduate core program in health science, health, pre-medicine or comparable field AND all of the following bulleted criteria: * 3 courses in psychology (i.e., to include 2 courses on learning disabilities &/or developmental disabilities & 1 course on reading & education of reading disabled) or 9 mos. exp. in same subject area * 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in education of visually handicapped * 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in administering vision screening tests (i.e., distance & near visual acuity, color deficit & ocular muscle balance & stereopsis) * 2 courses or 6 mos. exp. in anatomy, physiology or pathology of the eye * 2 courses or 6 mos. exp. in current treatment methods for vision disorders * 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations * Must be able to provide own transportation.
