Job Description

The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation and execution of safety policies, procedures, and practices across service divisions, job sites, projects, and operations within an assigned geographic region. This position ensures compliance with OSHA and other federal, state, and local safety regulations, fosters a culture of safety, and acts as a key advisor and resource to regional safety personnel, operational leadership, and field personnel.This role embodies our core values by leading with Integrity, fostering Teamwork across all levels of the organization, and Thinking Big to continuously improve safety outcomes and operational excellence.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe duties and responsibilities described here are not a comprehensive list, and the scope of the job may change as necessitated by the business demands. Safety Leadership (LMA) and Compliance:• Supervise, mentor, and develop department staff.• Establish departmental KPIs and ensure team accountability.• Serve as the primary safety leader in the region, ensuring consistent implementation of the company's safety programs.• Lead with Integrity by ensuring consistent application of safety policies, ethical decision-making, and regulatory compliance.Program Management:• Implement policies, procedures, and training programs to maintain OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable compliance.• Implement risk assessment processes, including JHAs (Job Hazard Analyses), incident investigation protocols, and safety audits.• Think Big by implementing innovative safety programs, leading indicators, and continuous improvement initiatives that elevate safety performance.• Prepare and submit required regulatory reports, permits, and documentation.• Implement and coordinate company OQ program, facilitate training and tracking of OQ qualifications.• Lead initiatives to improve safety culture, employee engagement, and accountability at all levels• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations including spill prevention, reporting, and site environmental controlsIncident Response and Investigation:• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety complaints.• Partner with leadership to develop and implement corrective action plans.• Lead investigations with Integrity and objectivity, ensuring accurate root cause analysis• Serve as primary regional liaison with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and inquiriesTraining and Development:• Implement and coordinate company safety training programs.• Promote Teamwork by building strong partnerships with field and operational leaders to deliver effective training.• Support rollout of new safety policies, technologies, and compliance initiatives.• Coach leaders and teams on safety expectations and best practices.Field Engagement:• Conduct field visits and site inspections to assess compliance and coach crews.• Demonstrate Teamwork through active field presence and collaboration with crews, managers, and superintendents.• Collaborate with managers and superintendents to integrate safety planning into job execution.• Assist with the development of site-specific safety plans and hazard mitigation strategies.Qualification RequirementsExperience:• 5+ years of progressive HS&E experience, with at least 1 year in leadership role in high-hazard construction (e.g., trenching, confined space, heavy equipment, pipeline, or industrial work).• Experience in researching and implementing compliance programs.Certifications:• OSHA 30 required.• OSHA 500 preferred• CHST, CHSO or similar safety certifications strongly preferred.Licensing:• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.Required SkillsConstruction HS&E Knowledge:Strong understanding of construction HS&E (Health, Safety, and Environmental) standards.Technical Skills:Proficiency in computer-based programs (e.g., Word, Excel, SharePoint).Communication Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Creative thinking and the ability to develop engaging content.Analytical & Decision-Making Skills:Analytical skills to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.Project Management & Organizational Skills:Strong project management and organizational skills.Collaboration & Independence:Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
