Job Description

San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year. Student Employees will assist the teaching staff in implementing age-appropriate activities inside and outside for young children 0 - 60 months of age. Along with maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Representative Duties: Under the Supervision of the Teacher and Assistant Teacher * Interacting and supervising children in a wide range of activities. * Assist with diapering and/or toileting.  * Assist with family style meal service for the children * Assist in preparing Activities  * Assist with general cleaning of classrooms and toys.  * Assist in the documentation of each child's growth and development through pictures and anecdotal notes. * Ability to follow directions to carry out the duties as assigned. * Familiarity with various equipment/tools used in the program and/or have completed some courses in the specific program or related fields. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.    Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting.    Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.    Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.    Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Employment Requirements: * Student must have completed 6 unites of child development * Students must be available to work 15-20 hours per week in 3-4-hour blocks of time. * Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units both Fall and Spring semesters. * Student must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher * Must Complete a TB test at time of employment * Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate. * Obtain a physical within 30 days of employment (required by community care licensing) * Proof of Tdap and MMR immunization (required by community care licensing)  Special Instructions to Applicants:   If you have any questions regarding this position, please contact the child development center at 909-384-4440 or email Sandy Karge   The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements: * Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting.
