A specialty pharmacy management group is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for a newly opening specialty pharmacy site. This permanent direct hire role offers the opportunity to lead pharmacy build-out, compliance, and operations from the ground up, playing a critical role in shaping a patient-focused specialty pharmacy. Location: Onsite - Shreveport, LA Hours: Monday through Friday, exact schedule TBD Key Responsibilities: Act as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge, ensuring full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and accreditation standards Oversee all pharmacy operations, including prescription dispensing, drug storage, security protocols, and patient safety Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and maintain documentation for compliance with licensing and accreditation bodies Manage insurance contract onboarding and collaborate closely with clinic providers to optimize specialty medication outcomes and patient access Supervise and train pharmacy staff, fostering continuous professional development and adherence to quality standards Handle inventory management, including temperature-sensitive products and recalls Serve as clinical expert by supporting patient counseling, therapeutic substitutions, and prior authorization processes Participate in strategic planning for pharmacy growth and service expansion in specialty medication areas Qualifications: Licensed Pharmacist (PharmD or equivalent) with an active, unrestricted LA pharmacist license eligible for PIC designation Proven experience as a Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacy Manager, specifically within outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy settings (inpatient experience not considered) Demonstrated knowledge of specialty medications, benefits investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance processes Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills, including composing professional appeal letters for medication coverage Comfortable working in a start-up environment and proficient with pharmacy software systems; experience with EMR (EPIC, Cerner) or specialty pharmacy systems is a plus Collaborative mindset with a commitment to delivering excellent patient care and fostering teamwork Perks & Benefits: Competitive salary range: $135,000 - $150,000 plus performance bonus Equity stake in the organization Unlimited paid time off This role is a permanent, direct hire opportunity with a specialty pharmacy management organization committed to improving patient outcomes through innovative pharmacy services.
