Sharpe Jr. HospitalOpening Date: 04/10/2026Closing Date: 4/16/2026 11:59 PM Eastern General DescriptionUnder the direction of the Clinical Services Director, oversees the Rehabilitative Service Department, which includes the Therapeutic Recreation Department and vocational training department/patient employment program, expressive therapy department and the patient library, as well as the therapy pool and exercise center. Oversees and evaluates programs and services for individuals with disabilities and special needs. Evaluates, plans, and directs activity and programs to meet needs. Supports staff in the development of work plans and the identification of resources to enhance inclusion of Therapeutic Recreation programs and services in the hospital's active treatment model. Establishes standards and guidelines for the delivery and modification of programs and services to meet patient care needs. Trains employees, coordinates employee roles to enhance service delivery and participates in recruiting, hiring, disciplining, and processing grievances. Assigns work and directs staff who provide program and/or one on one services to patients. Provides support to staff and program participants, solicits feedback, and evaluates program delivery. Works with staff to assess the effectiveness of therapeutic recreation programming. Develops and maintains QAPI, statistical, and other program metrics. Prepares reports and information to measure program and service delivery, progress, and success. Works as a liaison between program staff, treatment teams, and patients to address and/or resolve therapeutic recreation related issues, requests, and/or concerns. Performs related duties as required. Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position. This is a tobacco free campus. Pre-employment drug screening is required. Applicants must successfully complete a background check.0512P01686 Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Licensure/Certifications:None.Experience: Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience providing rehabilitation, psychiatric, recreational, or occupational therapy. Employment in a psychiatric or health care setting that does not involve therapy will not qualify.Experience Substitution:Registration as a Therapeutic Recreation Assistant or a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist as certified through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.About the OrganizationWilliam R.
