Job Title: EHS SpecialistStatus: Full-time/ExemptReports to: Safety DirectorWork Schedule: M-F (flexible hours)Compensation: $65,000-93,000 per yearThis pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends on applicants credentials. At Utilitra, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. In addition, the St. Louis Post‑Dispatch has named Utilitra a Top Workplace for seven consecutive years.Overview: The EHS Specialist teaches, coaches and advises company personnel regarding company Environmental, Health, and Safety policies, procedures, and safety management systems to mitigate operational risk. A successful EHS Specialist will help develop processes and tools while also developing positive professional relationships and working closely with field personnel, all levels of management, and customer representatives during all phases of operations. This is an in-field / field-office setting.Supervisory Responsibilities: This role has no direct reports. Duties/Responsibilities:OSHA standardsMonitors the company's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulationsDevelops thorough knowledge of all related OSHA regulations and compliance requirementsResearch changes in OSHA regulations and prepares programs as requiredTraining and New Hire Orientation Conducts formal safety trainingProvides onsite training for field personnelConducts Union and Nonunion safety orientation SafetyWorks to align company safety philosophy with actual work practicesDevelops programs to encourage employee engagement in safety, improve hazard recognition and control, and foster a continuous learning environmentProactively suggests safety improvements, provides consulting, and tracks follow-up recommendations to completionPerforms hazard assessments to reduce risk in all facets of workConducts safety assessments/audits/observations and provides positive and constructive coaching for co-workers at all levelsAssists in the implementation and administration of safety management system software and continuously seeks ways to leverage technologyAssists in the administration and reporting for 3rd party safety monitoring servicesParticipates in client safety meetings or conference calls conveys information from clients about their safety requirements on specific job sites or within their facilitiesIncident Investigation (vehicle, injuries, and property damage)Completes incident reports, OSHA-required documentation, and other client reportsCritically assesses and evaluates hazards as well as taking corrective actions in the momentDocuments findings, including "Root Cause Analysis"Communicate investigation findings and recommend how to prevent reoccurrencesVerifies corrective measures have been implemented and enforcedSupports mission, vision, and culture to foster a culture of respect, integrity, and kindnessPerforms other duties as assigned or prudentCross-train in all facets of the Division to develop and grow in responsibility and scope over timeThe person in this role will uphold the culture of Utilitra, including relationship building with customers as well as general behavior on Utilitra or client premises or at Utilitra-sponsored events.Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree preferably in Safety, Engineering or Construction related field or in lieu of degree, seven years of experience in industrial/construction/utility safety is required.Three years or more Safety-related experience required.
