We are currently looking for a Full Time Peer Support Specialist to join our Shelter Services Residential Team team located at the 2016 TE ATA DRIVE working 2 p.m. - 10 p.m.Summary:This position is located within the Chickasaw Nation Department of Family Services. The purpose of this role is to provide non-clinical, strengths-based support, promote connections to resources and/or services, and inspire hope for individuals and families served. The Peer Support Specialist role is to assist the individuals served with finding and following their own successful path without judgement. The person serving in this role will have actual lived experience similar to the population being served with sensitivity to the First American culture. Work is done collaboratively with all members of the team or program.Responsibilities:* Provides peer support and educational groups (life skills, etc.) with individuals served as needed* Provides orientation for new individuals and families served and communicates vital information to the team* Model effective coping skills, communication skills, thought changing skills, and self-help strategies* Provides hope for individuals or families served through encouragement, advocacy, and sharing of own experiences* Utilizes a collaborative approach with team members to support the needs and concerns of individuals and families being served* May assist with follow-up contact after completion of services if appropriate* Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency- Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner- Greets and engages with a smile- Determines needs, seeks positive experience and outcomes* Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities* Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types- Maintains general upkeep of work area and maintains a safe environment- Maintains and promotes professionalism- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics- Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress
