The position reports to the General Manager and works closely with the Regional Environmental Heath & Safety Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under direction of the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager & General Manager, establish and maintain a comprehensive sitewide safety, health, and environmental program.Assess and analyze all jobs, processes, and materials for potential hazards.Work with appropriate personnel to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate accident prevention and hazard control strategies.Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, standards, and codes.Plan, implement and broker as appropriate, safety, health, and environmental related training.Maintain all required safety, health and environmental related records and reports.Conduct accident investigations, as necessary.Develop and maintain an Emergency Action Plan for the current site.Establish and maintain an ongoing safety promotion effort.Analyze the day-to-day operations form the health, safety, and environmental perspective, with emphasis on the reduction of liability.Stay abreast of current and emerging technical and professional aspects of this position.Some weekend work required.Other duties as assigned by Manager Safety and Environmental Responsibilities Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately. Technical and Physical Requirements Associates Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or engineering, chemistry related field.
