This includes professional and hospital claims billing, cash posting, and management of patient receivables. This role ensures timely, compliant, and accurate billing and collections processes to optimize revenue. The Director provides strategic leadership and day-to-day operational oversight to maximize cash flow. This position plays a key role in monitoring pertinent revenue cycle metrics, including charge lag and denial rates. The Director collaborates with leadership and physicians to develop and implement best practices in patient accounting. They ensure compliance with all federal, state, and contractual requirements. The Director directs daily operations of patient accounting including billing, follow-up, payment posting, and Accounts Receivable resolution for both professional and hospital services. They ensure accurate and timely claim submission and remittance processing using relevant claims tools. The Director manages automation tools and mentors a team of managers and supervisors. They coordinate training for patient accounting staff and promote adherence to best practices and new functionality rollouts. They oversee training and competency development related to front-end collections and patient communications. The Director monitors and reports on Key Performance Indicators such as Days in Accounts Receivable and Clean Claim Rate. They use dashboards and reports to proactively identify issues and lead performance improvement efforts. The Director collaborates with various departments to resolve issues affecting billing and collections. They participate in upgrade testing, projects, and governance committees as needed. The Director identifies opportunities for automation and improved integration between systems and external vendors. They ensure workflows meet payer billing requirements and comply with regulatory guidelines. The Director works with Compliance and Internal Audit to monitor workflows for proper controls and documentation. They prepare and manage the departmental budget and track related technology costs. The position requires independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives. The Director has direct supervision of others and prepares and gives performance evaluations. They work directly with patients and customers and with other professionals and staff. This role involves frequent interactions with individuals at Director level or above.
