JOB SUMMARY Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Operator and/or Water Plant Director, this position performs skilled mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance on the City's Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Plant, wellfield equipment, pumping systems, chemical feed systems, emergency power systems, and associated infrastructure. Responsible for preventative, predictive, and corrective, and emergency maintenance to ensure system reliability, regulatory compliance, operational continuity, and asset longevity. This position requires technical proficiency in troubleshooting low-pressure membrane systems, pumps, motors, valves, and plant equipment. Evening, weekend, holiday and unscheduled overtime may be required to maintain continuous water service and respond to emergencies. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on low-pressure reverse osmosis treatment systems, including feed pumps, membrane racks, pressure vessels, cartridge filtration systems, and Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems.Removes, inspects, replaces, and reinstalls membrane elements and associated hardware in accordance with manufacturer specifications and City standard operating procedures.Inspects, disassembles, rebuilds, and installs pumps, motors, valves, actuators, piping assemblies, and related mechanical components.Troubleshoots and performs maintenance on chemical feed systems, storage tanks, metering pumps, and associated safety equipment.Maintains wellfield pumping equipment, vertical turbine pumps, and associated appurtenances.Performs basic electrical troubleshooting including motors, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and related components (non-programming level).Assists in maintaining and replacing instrumentation components including pressure transmitters, flow meters, level sensors, and other process control devices.Reads and interprets blueprints, P&IDs, technical manuals, electrical schematics, and manufacturer documentation.Performs weekly generator inspections, coordinates preventative maintenance, monitors automatic transfer switches, and ensures emergency power readiness.Utilizes computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and/or other software platforms to document work orders, equipment history, parts usage, and preventative maintenance schedules.Performs confined space entry, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and other safety procedures in compliance with OSHA standards and City policies.Maintains inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; assists in identifying replacement parts and making procurement recommendations.Participates in plant start-up, shutdown, commissioning activities, and warranty coordination with contractors as needed.Responds to after-hours callouts and emergency repair situations as required.Maintains cleanliness and safe working conditions in mechanical rooms, well sites, and plant facilities.Performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND KSA'S Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of three (3) years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, water/ wastewater facility maintenance, or closely related field; experience in membrane-based water treatment systems preferred.An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant experience may be considered.Special Qualifications:Valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License with an acceptable driving record at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment.Knowledge of and ability to comply with best practices including Lockout/Tagout and confined space entry procedures.Ability to obtain confined space entry certification, forklift certification, and any other required safety certifications within six (6) months of hire.Water Treatment Operator license preferred but not required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of mechanical systems including pumps, motors, valves, bearings, seals, piping systems, and low-pressure equipment.Knowledge of reverse osmosis treatment processes and membrane system components.Knowledge of electrical systems related to motors, MCCs, and VFD units at a maintenance level.Knowledge of safe handling procedures for chemicals commonly used in water treatment, including acids, oxidizers, and disinfectants.Skill in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment using logical diagnostic processes.Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.Ability to utilize computer software programs for documentation, reporting, and work order management.Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance tasks in a dynamic operational environment.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, operators, contractors, and other City personnel.Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergency or high-pressure situations.
