THIS IS A FULL-TIME ONSITE CLINICAL SURGICAL PATHOLOGIST POSITION WITH DAILY SIGNOUT OF SURGICAL PATHOLOGY Academic Appointment.-NYC Our ideal candidate is a Surgical Pathologist with fellowship in Gynecologic Pathology, Women's Health or Surgical Pathology who would be able to function as our gynecologic and perinatal expert. For current fellows, we prefer fellowship in Gynecologic Pathology or Women's Health Pathology. Requirements : Anatomic and Clinical Pathology or Anatomic Pathology residency Fellowship training in Gynecologic Pathology, Women' Health or Surgical Pathology Subspecialty, American Board of Pathology certification or eligibility for Anatomic Pathology eligibility for New York State Medical License Three years of experience preferred; new fellowship graduates will be considered Each day there are approximately 15-20 surgical pathology specimens (biopsies and resections) and 3 non gyn cytology specimens per pathologist. There is approximately one night of frozen/ adequacy call per week and approximately 10 weekends per year (exceedingly rare to be called in on weekend). Autopsy is primarily performed by the Chief of Autopsy but other pathologists may do 1-2 autopsies per year if there is a case when he is out. Each pathologist has responsibility for presenting pathology at one or more tumor boards. RESPONSIBILITIES Reviewing specimens and frozen sections, and preparing reports relating to surgical pathology, cytology and autopsy cases; Performing autopsies and preparing autopsy reports insuring compliance with NYSDOH and CAP guidelines; Performing intraoperative consultations; Participating, along with others, in the Department's on-call schedules for coverage 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week; Providing free care to Medical Center patients who are not covered by insurance or do not otherwise have the ability to pay; Participating in the Medical Center's overall Quality Improvement Program in accordance with the Medical Center policies and the policies of accrediting organizations; Participating in the education and teaching programs of the Medical Center and any of the Medical Center's affiliated institutions including, but not limited to, providing and attending lectures and conferences, coordinating resident lectures, as scheduled; Being available at reasonable times for consultation with the Office of Academic Affairs, the Executive Medical Council, the Chairs of the Departments, the Board of Trustees, and individual members of the Medical Staff; Engaging in resident and attending research projects as needed to support the Medical Center's education mission; Engaging in CME activities as defined by the Chair of Pathology; Engaging in other activities as required by the Chair of Pathology and the Director of Anatomic Pathology.
