Parent Champion Reports to: Manager of Community Partnerships Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) is hiring a Parent Champion to coordinate and lead efforts to organize and manage Parent Organizations and egagement in support of our nationally recognized Community Learning Centers (CLC) throughout the District. General Function: To support the Cincinnati Public Schools district-wide initiative of creating meaningful family and parent engagement opportunities, the Parent Champion will initiate, facilitate, and maintain programs and strategies that will lead to student academic success and family friendly partnership schools. He/she develops, promotes, and furthers CPS' Family Engagement Pillars of uplifting family voice in CPS decision making, partnering for student success, and empowering lifelong advocates to create optimal positive impact in meeting critical human service needs, and promoting long-term family engagement solutions. Skills and Qualifications: This position requires excellent networking, training, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability in community and family outreach, and organizing youth development activities is desired. A Bachelor's Degree and related training is preferred. Understanding and knowledge of public schools is helpful. Good organization/planning, team building, verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Prefer 4-year college degree and experience in coordinating comprehensive parent activities in a school or institutional setting. Principle Activities: * Engage 3rd-12th grade parents in activities that meet their critical needs and support student achievement. Promote long-term solutions. Integrate and align resources to CPS' family engagement goals. * Assist in completing a parent needs assessment to identify gaps in family supports and connecting families to activities that lead to success. * Coordinate regularly scheduled technology training to support parents in accessing their child's academic progress via Schoology and PowerSchool platforms. Provide ongoing support to parents in accessing and using technology. * Establish a good working relationship with the school-level parent coordinator and key stakeholders. * Attend school-level parent meetings as an observer. * Support principals in re-establishing an effective (National PTA Standards) school-level parent organization. * Meet with parent leaders to brainstorm parent involvement ideas and activities. Work with each school's parent organization to survey parents and obtain suggestions for activities and workshop topics. * Obtain parent organization meeting schedules and distribute the information to parents. * Work with parents to identify barriers to connect with school and provide the necessary supports for academic success during remote and blended learning. * Provide the necessary assistance to establish a district-wide parent organization that includes by-laws, nominations and elections. * Establish a district-wide Parent Executive Board. * Host quarterly district-wide parent meetings. * Prepare monthly reports for submission to district and agency leadership regarding resource activity and program progress. Maintain up to date records for all parent and family programs. * Support the Annual Title I Parent Meeting.
