This Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (MRI) position is in Diagnostic Imaging services at the VA Boston Healthcare System, West Roxbury, MA campus. This position is a Part-Time at 16 hours per week (Saturdays and Sundays). Duties of this position include but are not limited to: * Operating the super conductive Magnetic Resonance Imager (MRI), a highly complex computerized imaging device which employs the use of strong magnetic fields and radio waves to acquire images. Incumbent operates a magnet of 1.5 or 3 TESLA * Preparing magnet for daily operation, bringing they system up and checking all self calibrating parameters. * Maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned work area. * Maintaining necessary supplies in the work area. * Reporting all shortages or equipment failure to the supervisor. * Observing patient safety guidelines as set forth in department and Medical Center policies and procedures. * Monitoring all equipment brought into the MRI environment to ensure it is MRI sage or MRI compatible. * Actively seeking out work when assigned tasks are finished; Proactively identifies administrative, clinical or mechanical problems, and defines solutions. * Advising the Radiologist of those examinations which require immediate attention while the patient is still undergoing the examination. * Practicing sterile techniques to prevent contamination. * Performing the associated DHCP, CPRS GUI and imaging network responsibilities that relate to a patient examination and the patient's record.
