2026-2027 School Psychologist Intern @ Special Education Department (anticipated) (Internal employees must use the internal link to login & apply.) Primary Purpose: To assist Alief ISD schools in the referral, coordination, and monitoring process for students referred to special education and/or to assist Alief ISD schools in the development of appropriate educational programs for students. Education/Certification: * Master's degree - Must have completed required university hours for the completion of a Master's degree in School Psychology minus the requirement for internship in a school setting. Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Knowledge of federal and state special education rules and regulations including special education disability categories and impact educationally * Knowledge of specially designed instruction & cross-battery evaluation practices * Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies in learning * Ability to coordinate, manage and collaborate with staff in accordance with duties * Effective communication, human relations and leadership skills * Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills * Proficient in use of digital tools including Google Suite, Microsoft 365 ARD/IEP Software and Learning Platform Management Systems Experience: * Successful completion of all Master's degree coursework minus the requirement for internship in a school setting Major Responsibilities and Duties: * Selects and administers appropriate test instruments and analyzes test results of emotional/behavioral factors. * Participates on campus Intervention Assistance Teams (IAT) and Response to Intervention (RtI) team; provides behavioral consultations and strategies to professional staff. * Assists in the development of psychological and behavioral interventions for students; assists in the implementation and monitoring of behavioral support plans. * Presents evaluation results and interprets data for Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee, including parents. * Designs and implements appropriate counseling services to support educational progress of identified students. Program Management Under the supervision of a district appointed Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), the LSSP intern will: * Conduct Full Individual Evaluation assessments for students referred to special education (initiate, coordinate, collaborate, monitor progress on and complete evaluations within appropriate timelines). * Review all Existing Evaluation Data to make appropriate determinations for the need for additional assessment. * Review assessment results received from other school districts/outside sources to assure that all requirements/Texas Education Agency criteria are met. * Adhere to mandatory timelines and compliance for program management. * Assist with and/or conduct parent conferences for the purpose of reviewing and interpreting assessment results in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure parent meaningful participation in the ARD process. * Provide teacher/staff consultation related to assessment results and educational planning of students evaluated. * Participate in Case Review Committees as prescribed. * Administer and interpret intelligence and achievement measures and conduct full individual evaluations for educational purposes. * Assist in the preparation of appropriate individual educational plans (IEPs) for students in special education. * Attend and participate in district department and professional development meetings. * Complete Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans as part of psychosocial evaluations. * Know psycho-social development. Other * Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. * Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. * Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. * Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff. Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Licensed Specialists in School Psychology Personnel.
