EKG Technician Shift: Full Time - 40 Hours - Day Shift Location: Detroit Campus-2799 W. Grand Blvd Detroit MI 48202 General Summary Under general supervision, the EKG Technician performs technically acceptable computerized electrocardiograms (EKGs) on both a routine and emergency basis for inpatient and outpatient services. This role is responsible for applying and monitoring Holter and cardiac event devices, supporting EKG workflows, and ensuring timely physician review and documentation within the electronic medical record (Epic). The EKG Technician collaborates closely with cardiology providers and clinical teams to deliver efficient, high-quality diagnostic services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Perform computerized electrocardiograms (EKGs) for inpatient and outpatient populations on routine and emergency bases * Apply digital and cassette Holter monitor recorders, including: * 24/48-hour Holters * Mobile Cardiac Telemetry (MCT) * Extended-wear Holters * Cardiac event monitors * Support daily MUSE workflow and edit list processes, including EKG downloads from all six Emergency Departments * Ensure cardiologist MUSE in-baskets are populated daily for EKG review and confirmation in Epic * Perform EKG editing following physician over-read and complete transaction capture (billing) * Assist with patient outreach, scheduling, and Epic EKG/Holter order creation, including requests from external providers * Provide timely EKG services upon request to clinical areas including: * Catheterization Lab (K-2) * Nephrology/Kidney Transplant (K-16) * Neurology (K-11) * Bronchoscopy (I-4) * Pulmonary (K-17) * Maintain flexibility to support clinic and departmental needs as requested * Perform other related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Strong understanding of EKG procedures, cardiac monitoring devices, and workflow processes * Ability to perform accurate EKG testing and device application * Proficiency with electronic medical records (Epic) and cardiac monitoring systems (MUSE preferred) * Strong organizational skills with attention to detail * Effective communication skills with patients, providers, and multidisciplinary teams * Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment Education & Experience * High School Diploma or equivalent required * Additional cardiovascular training in performing and interpreting EKGs required * Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience as an EKG Technician preferred Additional Information * Organization: Henry Ford Medical Group * Department: Electrocardiogram * Shift: Day Job * Union Code: Not Applicable
