Job Description

A School Psychologist role is available in Flint, MI, focusing primarily on the Head Start program serving pre-K students, with potential assignments spanning K-12. This contract position requires 35 hours per week and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on students facing mild to moderate disabilities. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement early identification and intervention strategies for students experiencing academic, social, or emotional challenges. Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments evaluating cognitive abilities, academic achievement, adaptive behavior, and social-emotional functioning to determine eligibility for special education services. Collaborate regularly with support staff and participate in professional development to stay current with best practices and educational regulations. Ensure consistent application of special education policies and procedures across assigned schools. Communicate assessment findings effectively with parents, teachers, and administrators to facilitate shared understanding and successful educational planning. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Michigan School Psychologist certification or Preliminary School Psychologist certification is required. University transcripts must be provided prior to district presentation. Prior experience in school psychology or related agency work is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of challenges faced by urban children and be comfortable working in an urban school environment. Familiarity with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA federal regulations is highly desirable. Location: Flint, MI (with consideration of nearby areas such as Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit).
