This contract position offers a unique schedule-Sunday through Wednesday-with Sunday shifts running 7pm to 8am and Monday to Wednesday shifts from 11pm to 8am, totaling 40 hours per week. A background as a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technician, with proficiency across all lab sections including blood bank, is essential. Key Qualifications: Current credentials as a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technician, with demonstrated laboratory competency Proficiency in all laboratory areas, especially blood bank Experience performing and interpreting routine, special, and automated clinical analyses Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to abnormal and critical lab values Skilled in troubleshooting, instrument maintenance, and resolving technical laboratory problems Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) for test entry, verification, and result reporting Skilled in obtaining laboratory specimens from patients of varying ages and clinical conditions For those with six or more years of experience: capable of directing daily lab activities and acting in a supervisory/charge role in the absence of a supervisor Core Responsibilities: Perform and document a wide range of clinical lab tests, ensuring accuracy and quality Monitor and maintain laboratory instruments, conducting necessary preventative maintenance Investigate, resolve, and escalate technical issues as appropriate Enter and verify test results, manage downtime forms, and file reports when required Train and mentor MT and MLT students as well as new hires Evaluate and implement new testing methods and procedures Uphold infection control and safety standards per relevant guidelines and protocols Act as charge tech or supervise daily operations in the absence of the supervisor, if appropriately qualified Ready to contribute your expertise and thrive in a setting where your skills can make a difference?
