Richards High School Reports To: Building Principal, Assistant Principal of Pupil Personnel Services, Director of Special Education Summary & Purpose The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to high school students, including assessment, consultation, and crisis intervention. This role focuses on conducting evaluations for special education and 504 eligibility, supporting Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure students receive appropriate academic and social-emotional supports. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluation and Eligibility ? Manage a student caseload based on an assigned alpha slice (shared with another building psychologist). ? Conduct initial and three-year evaluations for both Section 504 and Special Education eligibility. ? Facilitate eligibility meetings for 504 Plans and IEPs in coordination with the Local Educational Agency (LEA). ? Review transfer student IEPs and provide necessary information for the intake process. ? Serve as a consultant in reviewing IEPs and 504 Plans for students who are struggling academically or behaviorally. Consultation and Program Support ? Serve as a consultant in problem-solving meetings (TAT/Tier 3) regarding diagnostic concerns, placement, and interventions. ? Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans. ? Coordinate with the Department Chair and Diagnostic Secretary for 8th-grade transition meetings. ? Manage building-level Inspire referrals and complete Cooperative Request for Service referrals. Crisis Intervention and Compliance ? Participate in suicide assessments, threat assessments, and other critical mental health interventions. ? Assist with student accommodations in various testing platforms. ? Attend monthly Assessment meetings and quarterly Psych/LEA meetings at the district office. ? Ensure all practices adhere to IDEA, Section 504, and the Illinois Administrative Code. EXPECTATIONS ? Maintain regular and reliable attendance and participate in required school and district meetings. ? Maintain strict confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and district policy. ? Remain current on federal and Illinois state laws related to special education. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED ? Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL). ? School Psychologist Endorsement. ? Master's or Specialist Degree in School Psychology. ? Strong communication, organizational, and data analysis skills. PREFERRED ? Experience working with high school students with disabilities across multiple instructional settings. ? Experience implementing behavior supports and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies. ? Experience with high school transition planning and post-secondary services. SALARY & BENEFITS Salary placement is determined according to the applicable IEA Local 218 Collective Bargaining Agreement based on education level and years of experience.
