Compliance Control/Float Pharmacist (Sanford and Float Position)JOB SUMMARYThe Compliance Control and Relief Pharmacist is responsible for various areas of regulatory, 340B, purchasing, training, and procedural compliance within our centers. This pharmacist works under the Director of Pharmacy and will also assist with prescription software maintenance and third-party payor items. They will maintain the daily business operations of a pharmacy department in the absence of a staff pharmacist, fulfill any period of vacancy for a Pharmacy Manager, and will float to any of our centers to staff a pharmacy department as needed. He/She is responsible to compound and dispense prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceutical items for patient care by performing duties in both the adjudication and production work environments while providing direct supervision of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Services Representatives, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Support Specialists performing pharmacy related duties.PRIMARY FUNCTIONSAssist with the administration of all pharmacies to assure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and funding agencies as well as policies and proceduresResponsible for focused training and competency compliance for the pharmacy departments and maintenance of compliance documentsServe as a subject matter expert for software programs used in the pharmacyPerform weekly, monthly, and quarterly audits of the pharmacy departments to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and policies and proceduresConduct 340B Compliance and other regulatory audits assigned Responsible for assisting with the oversight of purchases of all drugs, supplies and pharmaceuticals used in all pharmacy areas at all centers Manage medication recalls Assist the Director of Pharmacy in the handling of any reporting and auditing requirementsParticipate in all assigned meetings to address patient care and operational requirements, including one-on-one communicationAssist with supervision and development of pharmacy staff Create and manage policy, procedure, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the pharmacy departments as necessaryMeet with providers, medical staff, and administrative staff to keep them updated on pharmacy operations, updates, pricing changes, drug availability, etc. when requested or necessaryHelp develop and deliver presentations to staff members as assignedProvide support for new pharmacy department initiativesMaintain and oversee daily operations of the pharmacy departments as needed and assignedDispense and verify prescriptions as requiredFollow all medication guidelines as well as policies and procedures for receiving, filling, dispensing, logging, maintaining loss prevention procedures, and avoiding diversion for all inventory including controlled medicationsEnsure that pharmacy policies as well as federal and state laws and regulations in all prescription related issues, including 340b, HIPAA, SOP, QA, and CQI, are followedEnters all data accurately such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventoryReview and verify prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy, appropriateness, and determine formulas and ingredients neededCompounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, if applicableProvide mandated counseling on all new and changed therapies on both prescription medications/items and over the counter medications/items in accordance with True Health's policy and as required by state and Federal lawEnsure that all controlled drug policies and procedures as required by state, federal, and organizational guidelines are followedMaintains awareness of third-party Rx systems and resolves third party rejection problems promptly, and resubmits rejected claims for payment on a timely basisPerforms trouble shooting functions for third party discrepancies and other prescription filling issuesAnswer the telephone and assist at the front counter to maintain the workflow of the pharmacy. Manage and supervise pharmacy staff including: any staff pharmacists and pharmacy techniciansDirects pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy department at all timesMaintain contact with providers, clinical support staff, and administrative staff to determine needs, resolve problems independently, improve processes and promote effective drug therapy.Develop and maintain a good working relationship with physicians and other health care professionals in order to better assist the patients Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals as neededActively engages patients and clients with regard to providing exemplary customer service and high-quality careActively engages patients and clients with respect to customer service programs offered by the pharmacy in an effort to grow pharmacy business and volume of prescriptions dispensedActively engages patients and clients with respect to program integrations offered by the pharmacyResolves and reports prescription errors immediately and adheres to company policy regarding medication incidents and continuous quality improvementMaintains awareness of loss prevention controls and procedures to identify and minimize profit loss.Stay current with new and changing drug therapies and usesResponsible for the proper maintenance of pharmacy drug inventoriesResponsible for the proper storage of all pharmacy inventoryResponsible for ensuring that all required pharmacy, pharmacist, and pharmacy technician licenses/certifications/registrations are current and valid as required by state, federal and pharmacy guidelines.Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugsDelivers accurate reports and assignments on time and meets assigned deadlinesComplete all assigned projects and tasks accurately and on time Responsible for the success of any department inspectionsMust have reliable transportation and be able to travel to and staff the pharmacy at other health center locations when necessaryAbility to work any work schedule as assigned by the organization which may include evening and/or weekend hoursParticipate in events outside of normal course of business as assignedMust be able to provide support outside of regular business hours as required, including the ability to be on call if neededProvide department access outside of regular scheduled hours when needed in regard to the pharmacy department alarm system as well as maintenance that needs to be performed within the departmentAssist with emergency preparedness and reopening procedures as neededAny other duties and tasks may be assigned (may include technician-related duties depending on available staff)EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited college of pharmacy: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.
