Be on their team. * Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis. * Implements and monitors patient care plan and equipment. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition. Performs advanced respiratory care modalities. * Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome. * Educates the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs. * Responds to emergency resuscitation team code. ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Associate complies with the following organizational requirements: * Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared. * Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes. * Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes. * Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year. * Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department. * Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self. * Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance. * Complies with established organization and department policies. * Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required. Education: * High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Licensure / Certification / Registration: * Advanced Life Support obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. * BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. * Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. * Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 9 Months (270 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. * Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Respiratory Care obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. Working Conditions * Works in a clinical environment. * Possible walking and standing for long periods of time.
