Job Description

The physician will provide patient care to Veterans enrolled with VASNHS primarily in outpatient clinical care areas. Clinical areas may also include inpatient venues and inpatient hospital consultations. Pain Medicine is the medical discipline concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of the entire range of painful disorders. Pain medicine is a multidisciplinary subspecialty. The expertise of several disciplines is brought together to provide the maximum benefit to each patient. This is an OPEN CONTINOUS ANNOUNCMENT and will remain open until May 4 2026 The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be March 18 2026 subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available. Major Duties include but not limited to: * Provides an H&P, assessment, diagnosis & referral, outpatient consultations, injections/procedures, and supervision of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and rotating medical trainees. * Evaluates referrals for clinical care or consultation. * Participates in all activities pertinent to the clinical venue of care and consultation services. * Develop plans, coordinates, evaluates, and integrate all program elements into a comprehensive Pain Medicine program for the medical center. * Provides program guidance, coordinates with staff, and participates in performance improvement activities. * Handle conflict and problems in dealing with stakeholders constructively and appropriately. * Promotes customer experience by displaying care, compassion, and understanding in relationships with patients, families, visitors and promotes teamwork among staff. * Comply with laws and regulations governing the profession and adhere to the Code of Ethics of the profession. * Use effective communication and interpersonal skills with all stakeholders. * Demonstrates flexibility in responding to unexpected work volume, work location, tour of duty, and scheduling systems. * Perform other duties as assigned that are within the scope of practice.
