DescriptionThe combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics program at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a full-time, board-certified or board eligible Medicine-Pediatrics faculty to expand and enhance clinical services, research, and medical student and resident training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. The program is well-integrated within the departments of Medicine, and Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, each with separate categorical residency training programs. The faculty body of both departments is comprised of diverse academic employed and community faculty. The Med-Peds residency program has 16 residents, internal medicine residency program with 38 residents, and pediatric residency program has 30 residents, fully accredited with all subspecialty care and tertiary care capabilities. Participating in inpatient and outpatient clinical services as assigned by the department chairs. Working closely with the department chairs for:Recruitment, selection, supervision, education, and evaluation of resident physicians.Strategic planning.Regular participation in department and medical school meetings.Providing high-quality instruction for medical education of students and residents as determined by the department chair.Other duties as assigned by the department chair. RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:Candidates must have an MD/DO degree, a strong interest for medical student and resident education and scholarly activities and have passion for patient centered clinical care. Leadership and organizational skills are desirable. The candidate must be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics (or the American Osteopathic Board), be eligible for full licensure to practice in Michigan, and have a current BLS certification.Postgraduate and undergraduate medical education is an integral part of the job, and academic effort proportion will be determined based on individual interest, expertise and need.WMed offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.
