Position Summary:The Department of Research & Health Promotion augments SYHealth's clinical care with health promotion, research and care coordination programs for patients and community members. A major initiative has been to expand testing and rapid turnaround of respiratory pathogen results among the SYHealth patient population and broader community. Under the supervision of the Program Manager and Program Coordinator the Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to support and will help support day-to-day functions of the assigned research program. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: recruitment and enrollment of study participants, obtaining informed consent, data collection, and other duties as assigned.This is a part-time job, working a total of 20 hours per week.Essential Functions of the Job:Edit and submit study protocols and other required research documentationProvide information regarding respiratory pathogen prevention and testingRecruit and enroll study participants according to study protocolsObtain informed consent for all study participantsPerform data entry using the study data management system (e.g., REDCap, Access, EPIC)Performs or assists with routine data verification and quality controls to ensure data integrity and consistencyAssist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of research equipment and/or instrumentation as specifically instructedTrack research participants and perform follow-up tasks according to study protocolFollow study protocols (IRB, SOPs, MOPs), and adheres to study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and ethical research principlesProvide assistance in a variety of tasks in support of established recruitment and retention goalsDemonstrate skills and abilities by following the guidelines in venipuncture, heel/finger stick, and/or saliva sample collectionProvide assistance to the Principal Investigator, Program Manager, and Program Supervisor as neededAdditional Duties and Responsibilities:Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programsAttends meetings as required and participates in committees as directedPerforms other duties assignedJob RequirementsExperience Required:1 year related experience (in research or Health Promotion preferred)Education Required:Bachelor's degree in Public Health or related field or equivalent experienceCertifications Required:Protecting Human Subjects Research Training (CITI, NIH)May be obtained within 30 days of hireVerbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job: Bilingual English/ArabicExceptional communication and writing skillsTechnical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:Superb organizational ability and exceptionally analyticalAbility to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven, collaborative environmentProficiency in administrative skills and time managementExperience and knowledge with MicrosoftEquipment Used:Computers, Software systems, Scanner, Telephones, Copy and Fax machinesFamiliarity with excel and database management software (ex: REDCap)Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:Occasional irregular hoursProlonged periods of sitting, and constant walking and standing.
