Job Description

Positions available for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialists for the 2026-2027 school year, with opportunities to interview immediately for current openings as well. These contract roles support students with hearing loss by delivering tailored educational services that promote communication, language development, and academic success. Key Responsibilities: Provide individualized instruction tailored to students' hearing levels and communication needs across K-12. Support listening, speech, language, and communication skill development through direct teaching and consultative services. Adapt curriculum and materials to ensure accessibility, utilizing visual supports, captions, and other accommodations. Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals, making adjustments as necessary. Assist with the use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hearing assistive technology including hearing aids and FM/DM systems. Collaborate with families, educators, and related service providers to support student integration and success. Qualifications and Experience: Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting. Knowledge of assistive hearing technologies and strategies supporting auditory and speech development. Ability to adapt instructional materials to accommodate diverse communication needs. Strong organizational and communication skills to manage caseloads and collaborate effectively. Locations and Position Details: Freeport, IL: Full-time itinerant K-12 position. Ogle County, IL: Full-time itinerant K-12 position. Hampshire, IL: Itinerant position supporting various grade levels.
