These services are concerned with the development and integration of behavioral and biomedical science knowledge. Application of this knowledge includes prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Within scope of practice, performs psychosocial interventions with clients. Conducts individual, family, or group interventions, such as counseling, testing, and education of the client. Develops intervention goals and objectives to educate and resolve client problems in functioning. Participates in establishing, implementing, and evaluating treatment system goals and objectives. Interviews clients and their families to establish case goals and objectives. Assesses clients and determines specific intervention techniques. Monitors client responses to treatment systems. Provides feedback on the effectiveness of prescribed treatment. Evaluates lower-level behavioral healthcare provider cases and client progress from prescribed treatment plans. Maintains necessary documentation to satisfy federal, state, and local agency requirements. Prepares social histories, admission/aftercare summaries, and court documents as required by law and policy. Serves on treatment and program development teams. Attends training meetings, departmental meetings, and court hearings. Establishes and maintains working relationships with other facilities and agencies to coordinate referrals and conduct follow-up services. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of departmental regulations, policies, and procedures, along with governmental rules and regulations. Experience in counseling practices, both group and individual. Ability to counsel on sensitive matters and proofread technical materials. Recognizes unusual or threatening conditions and takes appropriate actions. Understands an abstract field of study and problem-solving situations with many variables. Applies social work theories, principles, and techniques. Unusual Working Conditions: May require unusual work schedules or arrangements. May involve exposure to clients who may be potentially violent. May involve exposure to unusual noise, odors, or contagious diseases. Travel to community sites may be required.
