EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst III (Chemistry) in Pineville, NC. Ideal candidate must have five years hands on experience in environmental chemistry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze samples to quantitatively measure chemical and physical properties in a variety of matrices: water, air, soil, and/or solidsFamiliarity with EPA, NIOSH, OSHA, and/or other potential methodologiesUnderstanding of ISO 17025, NELAC, AIHA and/or other state accreditation program requirementsFollow standard operating procedures, quality control procedures, and data validation established for each analytical methodOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipment and instrumentsPerform basic chemistry tasks such as pipetting, performance of volumetric measurements and the utilization of analytical balancesPerform calculations and conversions, and compile the data obtainedBe comfortable in a laboratory setting involving the use laboratory grade acids, solvents and other reagents that require care in use and when handlingRequirements:Bachelors in a chemical or physical science field of studyFive+ years' experience in a commercial production laboratoryExperience with one or more of the following instruments: GC, GC-MS, HPLC, ICP, ICP-MS, FLAA and/or XRDMust be able to work in a fast-paced setting, be able to multi-task and prioritize assignmentMust be able to work independently and with a teamMust be concise, organized, and meticulous regarding work assignmentsKnowledge of basic computer skills such Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is requiredFlexibility to work alternate hours and overtime may be required to meet business demandsAvailable Shift:Position is full-time Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Pineville, NC are encouraged to applyEMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending account.
