Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from new hire orientation.Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Boone, North Carolina offers exceptional outdoor recreation, a vibrant community, and outstanding quality of life.What You'll Do as a Cardiac Cath TechCardiac Procedure SupportPerform angiography, cardiac catheterization, and special procedures requiring independent judgment and technical expertise.Assist physicians during invasive cardiology and radiology procedures.Scrub, circulate, monitor, and record hemodynamic parameters in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.Patient Care & SafetyProvide patient-centered care while ensuring safety and comfort during procedures.Demonstrate compassion and respect for the dignity and individuality of each patient.Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of practice.Collaboration & CommunicationCommunicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, leadership, and healthcare team members.Foster strong working relationships that support a healthy and collaborative work environment.Assist coworkers, patients, and visitors as needed within scope of practice.QualificationsMinimum EducationGraduate of an AMA-accredited Radiologic Technology program or RCIS programCompletion of an approved Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) program or equivalent on-the-job training acceptedExperienceClinical radiographic and imaging experience from an AMA-accredited radiologic program requiredPrevious Cardiac Cath Lab or special procedures experience preferredLicensure & CertificationsRegistered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in the state of North CarolinaBasic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at time of hireAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hireKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively and courteously with patients, families, staff, and physiciansCompetence in delivering safe and effective patient care within licensure and hospital policy limitsKnowledge of the continuum of care within the cardiovascular procedural environmentStrong teamwork and collaboration skillsCommitment to patient safety, service excellence, and high-quality carePhysical RequirementsAbility to lift, position, push, pull, and transfer patients or equipment weighing 50+ poundsManual dexterity and mobility for technical procedural workProlonged standing, walking, and movement during proceduresFrequent bending, squatting, twisting, and reachingNear visual acuity for detailed procedural work and monitoringWork EnvironmentFrequent exposure to bloodborne pathogensExposure to electrical and mechanical medical equipmentExposure to chemicals, specimens, and other clinical hazardsIrregular hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency situationsExtended standing and walking (8+ hours per shift)Frequent patient mobilization and repetitive technical tasksExposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation including X-ray and related imaging equipmentAbout UNC Health Appalachian:It's official - UNC Health Appalachian earned an "A" in the fall 2023 Leapfrog Patient Safety Grades!
