Full Time Department Community and Workforce Education Classification Contract Exempt / Non Exempt Status Exempt Grant Funded No Degree Required Bachelor Degree Preferred Masters Experience Required Two years experience Estimated Hours per Week 40 Salary Posting Number P01632 Position Summary Information Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree General Summary The Community Workforce Education (CWE) Health Programming Director is responsible for managing, planning, staffing, marketing allied health programs including Basic Life Support (CPR), First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, health continuing education and working with health academies at area high schools in a 5-county region. Individual will be responsible for student-related services, work with part-time adjuncts with revisions in curriculum, and attend meetings related to health programming. The Director will assist the Associate Dean of Community Workforce Education with establishing health academies at local high schools. The CWE Health Programming Director performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with college policies and procedures. Essential Functions Essential Functions 1. Directs certified health programs (EMT, EMR, Nursing Assistant (NA), Medication Aide (MA), CPR, and Nursing Continuing Education for the Hastings Campus. Develops and maintains relationships with 40+ community EMT departments, community hospitals, and numerous long-term care facilities located in the region. Supervises full-time NA/MA Trainer(s). Recruits, trains, and mentors the EMS, Nurse Aide/Medication Aide Trainers and Instructors. Collaborates with community EMS departments in the service area to meet DHHS (Department of Health and Human Services) and National Registry required training. Manages personnel on-site and at a distance. Conducts bi-annual required adjunct and staff evaluations. Essential Functions 2. Develops and manages credit and noncredit health programming offered on-campus and at numerous off campus locations in the service area. Coordinates with other CCC departments and employees working with heath students. Plans, directs, and coordinates class, workshops and conference logistics, to include securing of presenters, establishing budgets, negotiation of charges, determining schedule and location, and providing for instructional/presenter needs. Supervises the development and/or modification of curriculum and instructional materials, using technology and following current instructional methodology. Works closely with instructors to identify and provide support to students who are at risk of potentially dropping out or in need of various campus resources. Essential Functions 3. Develops, supervises and implements budgetary expenditures related to health programming instructional materials and equipment. Negotiates with presenters, contractors and vendors. Obtains grant funding from the Nebraska DHHS for EMS continuing education training (averaging 40 grants/year). Recruits part-time instructional staff from across Nebraska to teach funded trainings. Essential Functions 4. Maintains accreditation from the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP); maintains training site status with the State of Nebraska, American Heart Association (AHA), National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), and others as necessary. Serves as the Training Agency contact for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT); Exam Coordinator for EMS Basic Life Support Psychomotor examinations. Responsible for bi-annual Nebraska DHHS regulatory inspections of EMS and Nurse Aide/Medication Aide programming along with required program equipment inspections. After inspections, responsible for meeting all recommendations in a timely basis. Essential Functions 5. Track student progress in health programs and report as necessary. Submit required EMS and Nurse Aide/Medication Aide course information to DHHS within 30 days of class completion. Submit names of candidates who have submitted an online application to the NREMT and indicate student completion of state-approved education program administered in Nebraska. Verification of candidates eligibility to take NREMT certification. Manage, update, and submit EMS Education Program Sections to the NREMT. Essential Functions 6. Directs on-going marketing and promotion of allied health classes, continuing education offerings and conferences within 5-county region. Provides customized continuing education workshops to meet local operational needs in compliance with the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) minimum requirements. Directs yearly EMS, NA/MA and CPR In-service training sessions in accordance to DHHS and American Heart Association requirements. Essential Functions 7. Develops and conducts needs assessments and advisory meetings to identify educational needs of individuals, groups, businesses, organizations, agencies and communities in the 5-county Grand Island region. Serves as a liaison with community partners, high schools, and peer institutions to meet their needs and strengthen existing programs. Maintains written training agreements with hospitals, rescue squads and fire departments. Assists with the establishment of Health Academies in local high schools through the development of Nurse Aide programs with area high schools . Partners with area schools and community entities to implement CPR and Nurse Aide curriculum that strategically aligns with AHA and DHHS requirements. Essential Functions 8. Attend DHHS and certified webinars and training, staying up to date on licensing and state program protocols. Conducts departmental meetings to share information, address issues, interpret new regulations and provide educational opportunities. Essential Functions 9. Maintains comprehensive understanding of CCC administrative, academic, and student procedures and policies. Facilitates delivery of student support and instructional services to off-campus students. Assists Associate Dean with student support aspects of the Early College program for health related programming.
