POSTING OF VACANCY Director of Counseling Systemwide 2026-2027 School YearQualifications: Massachusetts License, Supervisor/Director, all levels, required Massachusetts License, Counselor, all levels, required Master's Degree required Minimum of five (5) years of school counseling experience, any level K - 12, required Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to effectively present information Ability to work cooperatively with peers Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously Such other qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate Responsibilities: Align school counseling programs with multi-tiered systems of support, interventions, and monitoring, employing visionary thinking that supports current programming and guides new program development. Align counseling strategies and programming with ASCA and DESE guidelines related to mental health support services in schools. Supervise and evaluate department members using prescribed evaluation procedures. Develop, manage, and oversee department budgets by school. Pursue additional grant opportunities to support program growth and innovation. Review and update crisis team protocols with school and district administrators. Design and implement parent/caregiver education presentations on understanding and managing student mental health. Plan and facilitate department meetings on a regularly scheduled basis as outlined in the annual district calendar and conduct post-meeting follow up as needed. Attend and engage in standing administrative meetings as essential to the role; these include Instructional Leadership, Curriculum Council, school-based Department Head meetings. Organize a credit recovery program for non graduating seniors, if needed with school administration Engage in routine check in meetings with FHS Lead Counselor, the Director of Student Services, and principals at each school as scheduled and necessary. Work collaboratively with the Director of Student Services in the development and implementation of district-wide curriculum objectives, needs analysis, and program development. Oversee, inventory, and manage supplies and materials using effective record keeping, distribution, and collection techniques. Develop and utilize community resources for department needs; Engage with colleagues and community members about current as well as new initiatives. Provide input to the principals/assistant principals on the development of the schedule for each school. Maintain department level memberships in professional organizations. Partner with CTE Department Head to develop, implement, and measure impact of career-oriented learning experiences. Ensure district compliance with 504 accommodation plans. Coordinate home/hospital tutoring for students. Organize and facilitate welcome meetings for new students at all schools. Collaborate with district and school administrators to ensure continuity and integrity of student service continuum (e.g., school transitions, course registration, family information sessions), including advancing college and career readiness initiatives (e.g., College and Career Fairs). Reflect and communicate in a timely manner with colleagues, families, and both professional and community partners. Collect, analyze, interpret, and use data to inform and measure program effectiveness. Prepare and implement a process for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and supporting new department members and assist in new educator orientation and induction as needed. Meet with the Cape Cod Community College admission team to determine in school activities and dates for the high school Pathways program. This allows seniors opportunities to participate in the college admissions process at FHS. Organize a credit recovery program for non graduating seniors, if needed with school administration. Evaluate, research and recommend counseling strategies, interventions, and various tools to aid service delivery based upon best practices. Remain current with new developments in counseling practice through readings, conferences, and other means of professional learning as well as disseminate information to colleagues in a timely manner. Plans and facilitates relevant professional learning that aligns with school and district initiatives. Conduct other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent or Director of Student Services.
