Position is full-time hours on the night shift for permanent / direct hire.Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microbiology Supervisor to lead our microbiology laboratory team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the microbiology department, managing laboratory staff, ensuring the accuracy of test results, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The Microbiology Supervisor will also play a crucial role in mentoring and training staff, improving laboratory processes, and ensuring the highest level of quality in diagnostic services. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and manage the daily operations of the microbiology laboratory, ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently. Oversee the testing and analysis of microbiological samples, including cultures, pathogen identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and quality control procedures. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of microbiology results to medical staff and patients. Lead and mentor laboratory staff, providing training, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities. Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (CLIA, CAP, OSHA, etc.) and maintain laboratory accreditation standards. Develop, implement, and review laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols to optimize workflow and maintain high-quality results. Manage the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Coordinate with other departments and medical professionals to address any microbiological concerns or results. Assist in preparing and maintaining laboratory records, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Conduct quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results. Stay up-to-date on new microbiological techniques, advancements, and industry trends. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Specialist (CLS) in Microbiology by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification. At least 3-5 years of experience in microbiology, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. In-depth knowledge of microbiological techniques, laboratory procedures, and safety protocols. Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in laboratory information systems and computer applications. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of laboratory work. Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements, such as CLIA, CAP, and OSHA.
