Join a specialized Interventional Radiology team as an Imaging Interventional Radiology (IR) Technician in a dynamic healthcare environment in Glen Allen, VA. This contract position offers an opportunity to apply critical care and procedural expertise while working alongside a skilled team dedicated to advanced imaging procedures. Location & Unit Overview: Located at a leading medical center on the Chippenham Campus, the IR unit operates on the first floor of the main building, staffed by about 10 professionals. The unit utilizes advanced imaging equipment including the Discovery 740 IGS system, with patient care supported through the Meditech electronic medical records system. Key Responsibilities: Perform a variety of interventional radiology procedures such as biopsies, drain insertions, angiograms, peripheral vascular imaging, paracenteses, thoracentesis, and line placements. Assist with additional imaging needs including CT coronary, MRI monitoring, and myelograms. Collaborate effectively with radiology nurses and coordinators; note that RNs typically do not scrub cases. Support care delivery by managing moderate sedation and assisting throughout procedural workflows. Participate in on-call rotations, including approximately 1-2 nights and 1 weekend every 4-5 weeks. Qualifications & Certifications: Proven critical care and procedural area experience is essential. Moderate sedation competency is a must. Preferred: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification and experience working with Meditech EMR. Required certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Positive, outgoing, and team-oriented personality with a self-starting attitude is ideal. Schedule & Attire: This role requires flexibility for day shifts with on-call night and weekend duties. Scrubs are provided and required attire.
