Substitute ParaprofessionalLocation: Alexandria Public SchoolsPosition Type: On-Call / As NeededEssential Responsibilities:Support classroom teachers by guiding and reinforcing lessons.Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to explain instructions and assignments.Administer make-up tests and quizzes.Collect and maintain data as directed by the teacher.Prepare instructional materials under the direction of the classroom teacher.Assist with classroom management and behavior plans.Support students during crisis intervention, which may include physical restraints.Provide assistance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), which may include swimming or adaptive physical education.Support students with personal care tasks, including hygiene, toileting, feeding, dressing, diapering, and physical transfers.Supervise students in various school settings including buses, playgrounds, study halls, lunchrooms, hallways, and locker rooms.Report discipline concerns to the teacher and/or principal and manage minor behavioral issues in accordance with district guidelines.Monitor and assist students during bus transportation.Next Steps After Applying:Watch for an email from our Human Resources team within 48 hours of applying.
