Working under the supervision of orthopedic surgeons, the PA evaluates patients, develops and implements treatment plans, assists in surgery, and manages post-operative and follow-up care. This role is designed to improve patient access, enhance continuity of care, support surgical growth, and optimize provider efficiency. EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Current National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA) certification.Licensed as a Physician's Assistant in the State of Georgia. Current BLS certification. EXPERIENCEPrevious experience in orthopedic surgery or musculoskeletal medicine required. First assistant surgical experience required. Experience with inpatient orthopedic care and rounding strongly preferred. Familiarity with Epic EMR electronic medical record system strongly preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Eligibility for hospital credentialing and surgical privileges. Advanced clinical decision making and diagnostic skills. Strong surgical assisting and procedural skills. Excellent communication, patient education, and teamwork abilities. Ability to manage complex patients in fast paced environments. High level of professionalism, autonomy, and accountability. WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION Works primarily in hospital and clinic setting, including clinical/patient care areas. Considerable walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting (in excess of fifty (50) pounds). Mental effort required to assess, plan, and make or recommend decisions in complex environment. Likely to be exposed to blood/body fluids, including infectious diseases. Duties require considerable walking, stooping, standing, bending, pushing, lifting (possibly in excess of 50 lbs.), occasional times of sitting, twisting, and kneeling. Ability to operate medical equipment instruments and office equipment. Require visual and auditory acuity, balance, hand dexterity, mobility of body, and mechanical ability.
