Position: Detox Assistant Department: Detox/Medical & Health ServiceFLSA Status: Non-Exempt Supervised by: Detox Nurse ManagerEmployment Status: Part-Time Shift: 31 or less hours per week Summary(FT, PT, PRN) Recovery Advocates provide supervision to clients, children, and visitor activities. Maintains program schedule, program guidelines, and daily program activities, including the flexibility of moving between programs for coverage needs. Overnight shifts have the primary responsibility of data entry into CMBHS per contract requirements. Assist in creating a healing and safe environment for residents who may be trauma survivors.Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides client supervision in a safe, therapeutic setting. Utilizes and promotes the appropriate treatment model with all clients. Conducting appropriate interventions and providing support. Observing and documenting relevant client information and behaviors. Ensures communication lines between all departments (clinical, medical, kitchen, administrative...etc.) Ensures that clients adhere to the day-to-day program schedule, while providing scheduled group services to clients. Maintains accurate documentation in electronic healthcare record (CMBHS), staff log, charts, medication log, incident reports, facility forms, and/or other reports in a timely manner. Documents notes and other clinical information in database systems including CMBHS. Supervises clients in the self-administration of medication and documents appropriately. Completes medication inventories under supervision of nursing department, as indicated. Provides emergency direction as appropriate. Performs various clerical tasks, filing, copying, etc. Assures various forms are updated and supplied for clients use in dorm. Manages crisis situations; notify Charge, Program Director, and Counselors; complete appropriate documentation. Attends treatment team meetings as required by Program Director. Performs random room searches, bed checks according to program policies. Conducts and documents urine screening. Checks In/Out client belongings on admission/discharge from Nexus, as required. Monitors visitation for clients, families, children, etc. Provides safe, timely, and supervised transportation of clients to off-site appointments or activities. Maintains a valid driver's license throughout employment with Nexus Recovery. Conducts and documents client checks and counts. Conducts routine facility checks to ensure facility safety and security. Including client and property searches. Attends all required staff training sessions in accordance with Nexus Recovery Center and state licensing requirements, completes all trainings on time. Demonstrates regular predictable attendance and punctuality. Attends and participates in all staff meetings. Adheres to and promotes the Nexus Recovery Center mission and values. Acts as a role model for others. Assumes lead duties for shift(s) as assigned Completes other duties as requiredCompetencies Ability to provide services in line with Nexus' core values of respect, compassion, and integrity. Understanding of the impact of trauma on the population served. Ability to deliver services in a trauma responsive manner. Knowledge regarding signs and symptoms of withdrawal. Ability to administer detox evaluation instruments. Ability to appropriately monitor and manage the care of detox clients. Knowledge regarding detox and psychotropic medications. Sensitivity and ability to work with people of various races, cultures, and socioeconomic levels. Ability to perform urinalysis collection following the proper chain of command. Ability to manage client behavior, manage crisis situations, and apply conflict resolution skills to situations. Knowledge and compliance of dorm, agency, and state policies and procedures. Service clients and outside contacts with dignity and respect. Strong written and verbal communication with team concerning client and other relevant issues. Current valid Texas Driver's License and good/clean driving record required. Experience with chemical dependency issues preferred. One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceCertifications, Licenses and or Registrations Valid Texas Drivers Licenses and a clean driving recordLanguage Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and team members in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
